Plankton Productions is an Australian based specialist media production & services company empowered by David Hannan's extensive HD footage library creating & contributing to a wide range of screen projects & commissions, from TV Documentary & Online Science Education to Marine Video Art and Public Displays.

With his company Plankton Productions David has created a visual record of tropical and temperate marine environments all around Australia, set up a base for filming expeditions in Papua New Guinea, voyaged beyond Antarctica and and amassed one of the worlds largest and most coveted independent tropical marine footage libraries and also an extensive archive of Antarctic subjects on HD.

CEO, Cinematographer, Director and Producer, David Hannan first won international acclaim for his tropical coral reef images in his now classic best selling home video Coral Sea Dreaming first released in 1992.

Many years, TV documentaries and musical programs later, David remains passionate about all things marine and since 2001, has filmed on HD in a joint venture with ProCam in Brisbane Australia. More recently with the industry transition into 4k, new collaborations with NUMA and TWIN STAR FILM leverage aquisition capabilities in all image formats including 3D.

A regular supplier of natural history segments to leading 'blue chip' programs around the world such as most recently Life On The Reef in 2015, David Hannan with Plankton Productions have in recent years made significant contributions to Planet Ocean, the follow up by the makers of 'HOME', filmed and produced segments for Rob Stewarts latest movie Revolution and completed principal cinematography for Coral: Rekindling Venus, a major new work in full-dome format by acclaimed artist Lynette Wallworth.

Significant recent co-productions include the 6-part TV series Undersea Edens, a series of 9 Education Modules and many other TV Documentary and DVD titles.

Although always busy with ongoing commissions, field shoots and new projects, David also foresees an exciting future for Virtual Ocean Display Programming. Ongoing endeavours include visuals for event projection such as dance performance piece Okeanos.

Dave is renowned not only for his filmmaking, but also for the conservation impetus that is activated by his films. It's an inspiration and driving force behind his work. David Hannan is a founding Director of Ocean Ark Alliance, a non-profit organisation focussed on creating accessable education reference resources and conservation initiatives..

From mid-2009, the company has a new business name 'PLANKTON PRODUCTIONS PTY LTD', previously 'David Hannan Productions Pty Ltd'. Australian Company and Business Registration remain the same: ACN 010 898 567 and ABN 43 010 898 567.
